Age 69, of Marquette, MI passed unexpectly in his home on September 25, 2015. Survived by his son and namesake Gordon Mortensen III, ex-wife and lifelong friend Susan and her daughter Stephanie, sister Arvilla, and brother, Niel. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother. Memorial service at the Sundance Lodge, at Granite Peak Ski Area in Wausau, Wisconsin, on October 11, 2015 at 4:00 pm. Mortensen, Jr., Gordon "Mort"

MARQUETTE, MI - Gordon "Mort" Mortensen, Jr., age 69, of Marquette, MI, passed unexpectedly in his home on September 25, 2015. Throughout his active life Mort took on many careers, including teaching, nursing, and of late, working for the Wausau Fire Department as an EMT Firefighter. His dedication to helping others was unparalleled. He could always be found helping someone else, and never asked for anything in return, ever. Most notably Mort spent 45 years volunteering for the National Ski Patrol at various ski areas in the midwest. Also an avid outdoorsman, he spent many hours of his life hunting and fishing with friends and his son in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Colorado. He was always there for anyone who needed help, a hand, or advice with anything; he could literally do anything. His knowledge, creativity, passion, and devotion will be missed by many.

Mort is survived by his son and namesake Gordon Mortensen III, ex-wife and lifelong friend, Susan and her daughter, Stephanie, sister, Arvilla, and brother, Niel. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and younger brother. 

A memorial service celebrating his vibrant and diverse life will be held at the Sundance Lodge, at Granite Peak Ski Area in Wausau, Wisconsin, on October 11, 2015 at 4 pm. Please bring your memories of Mort to share, and a picture to display if you have one.
